It’s a Wise Child

There is no front man. There is no genre. There are only songs made with music. Chicago’s It’s a Wise Child has been in the business of making songs since 2001.
Four guys write and play and fight and sing, pulling the songs in different directions, letting them snap back into place. Weaving slanted guitar, punchy chorded bass, intricate and occasionally bombastic drumming set a post-rock backdrop for impressionistic and semi-linear storytelling. Delivered from whispers to screams, but mostly in between, melodic layers of fractured vocals propel a mellow, explorative rock that retains an angular hard edge.
The masterminds behind It’s a Wise Child have known one another since they were wee lads. Working for Mirgh the mighty pizza baron of the western suburbs, the boys discovered their shared interest in music, girls, and other diversions. It’s a Wise Child released Self Titled Album (Our Glass) independently in 2003. Another collection of songs is in the works.
